Lillian founded Danrae with husband Ron in 1996, and she’s overseen all finance matters from the beginning. “I love accounts and I love every part of my job. I love coming to work and seeing the family every day. I feel very lucky.”
From fashion to foundation
Lillian began her career a long way from waterproofing – and finance. “I initially worked in the rag trade in the men’s tailoring business. After that I was in the quality department at Rexona.”
Years later when Ron and Lillian were both looking for new roles, Lillian suggested they start their own business. “So we bought a van and began. And it’s the best thing that could have happened.”
With friends and family
Lillian dreamed of becoming an air hostess when she was young. And she still has a love of travel, something she loves doing with the family and does sometimes with her petanque team – “Our last big team trip was to New Caledonia” .
When not travelling, she makes sure to visit her grandchildren every weekend. And with her whole family now working at Danrae, she loves that she sees them every single day.
